Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian readers! Although it’s been rainy and a bit chilly in Halifax for the past week, I’m hopeful our nice summer weather is on it’s way soon. Today I accomplished one of my big goals for 2019 by running a 10K race. I was a little slower than I thought but I’m still proud.

Eating cake after a 10K run

I’m pretty excited for July. My best friend arrives from Ontario on Wednesday, and I’ll be on vacation for a week. Playing tourist around Nova Scotia, relaxing and no doubt eating some delicious food. We are headed to Toronto and Niagara Falls at the end of July to see Michael Buble and also visit with a great friend. I’m looking forward to some day trips with my husband and friends in July as well. It’s going to be a great month for travel!

This month Will Save For Travel officially turns 2, which is crazy! It seems like I have just started this crazy journey but we are already 2 years in. I have learned so much and met so many amazing people. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

BIG NEWS!

Perhaps the most exciting news of July is that as of tomorrow, July 2nd 2019, WE ARE DEBT FREE!

It still doesn’t feel real, but maybe tomorrow once we see $0.00 balance it will finally hit us. We hit our goal 3 months earlier than we originally planned to. More on this in another post this week!

What’s Next?

You may have noticed the title of the post is a little different from my normal monthly goals post. We are officially halfway through 2019, and starting quarter 3 of the year. Since we are going in to the last half of 2019 debt free, and our budget is about to get an overhaul of sorts, I thought it was time to change things up. I have been doing these monthly goals for 2 years now, and while they have helped me accomplish some awesome things, I have decided to move on to a different format. I will now be making quarterly goals, and I have decided not to limit myself to just one health, one financial and one other. If I hate it, then I’ll go back to monthly goals!

But let’s recap my June goals before we get too much into the quarterly ones.

Health Goal: I didn’t get out 3 times a week to run this month, but I did complete my 10K today in 1 hour 21 minutes. It is about 6 minutes slower than I wanted to be, so I probably should have been out there training more. I’ve decided to be proud of myself for finishing and do better next time.

Finance Goal: I did experiment with a new way of budgeting which I am planning to implement soon. I’ll be sharing that with you later 😉

Other Goal: My other goal was to update 1 old post a week, and get back into writing regularly. I’ve updated 4 posts: Super Simple Budgeting, The 7 Bank Accounts You Need, 10 Things To Do In Thunder Bay and Adults Only Disney World Trip. I published at least one blog post a week as well, and I have lots of new stuff coming up for you.

I also started my YouTube Channel and got 3 videos up there for you to enjoy.

Quarter 3 Goals

Since this is the first time I’m making quarterly goals, I thought I’d just start with listing all the things I’d like to accomplish in the next 3 months:

  • Increase RRSP contributions to 10% of our income
  • Figure out new budget without debt payments
  • Update Etsy store with new items
  • Post a new YouTube video at least biweekly
  • Be more consistent with exercise – 3 times a week at least 30 minutes
  • Save $1200 toward a new car
  • Update at least 3 blog posts a month
  • Declutter books

I’m sure that all these things are doable in the next 3 months. I’ll update you on October 1st on how it all went down!

Net Worth Update

July also means we have officially been tracking our net worth for 1 year! In the last year we’ve been able to increase our net worth by 23,401.39. Feels good to not have anything in that student debt category!
