2020 Quarter 2 Goals

Holy moly, seems like a year has past since my last quarterly update, but alas it has only been 3 months. Does anyone else feel like Albus Dumbledore when they use the word “alas”? I digress…

The first 3 months of 2020 have been an absolute shit show for most everyone. I have not been working at my “real job” for the last 2 weeks. My husband can thankfully work from home. If there was ever a financial wake up call this is it! I’m so happy we are debt free and have a small emergency fund.

Learn how to prepare for a financial emergency

Let’s recap my goals for quarter 1 of 2020…

Q1 Recap

Adhere To My Posting Calendar – I did pretty well with this until the virus-that-shall-not-be-named tanked my traffic. Turns out a lot of people aren’t searching for travel stuff right now. Go figure. Anyway I’ve put a hold on travel stuff and am focusing more on the financial stuff to help you (and me) get through this new financial situation.

Meal Plan – We’ve been meal planning every week! It’s worked out great and we just did a 2 week meal plan for the first time this week, to see if we can go 2 weeks without getting groceries… we’ll see how that works out!

Read 3 Books – YES! Thanks to our current situation I have waaayy more free time, so I read Closed Casket by Sophie Hannah (a Hercule Poirot mystery), Ride Of A Lifetime by Bob Iger (former Disney CEO, current Chairman of Disney), and The Island by Elin Hilderbrand, a nice trashy beach novel.

Save $2500 Toward A New Car – So close, but yet so far. We saved $1,731.69. Not where I wanted to be, but being that travel is on hold for now, hopefully we’ll be able to put more aside.

Declutter Spare Bedroom – Started on this, and then it turned into my husband’s new makeshift office. Now he has a music room and an office and I work on the sofa…

6 New Youtube Videos – YES, in fact I have 9 new Youtube Videos up on our channel! Check them out!

Quarter 2 Goals

Stick To Our Groceries Budget – Groceries can get out of hand quickly, especially being at home all the time (anyone else a boredom snacker?). We budget $150 every 2 weeks for groceries and household items. We have also been trying out the grocery pick up services at our local stores and so far so good. I liked knowing the total before we picked them up!

Save $1500 For A Car – I don’t want to get too off track on this goal. I think we can still manage to save some money toward a new car even while I am off work.

New Youtube Video Weekly – I want to start recording more for you! Is there anything you want to see?

Exercise 30 Minutes A Day – I really don’t have much excuse now do I? I have been enjoying a lot of walks around our neighborhood (practicing social distancing!).

Finish A Continuing Education Course – I need to finish an online course for my “real job” as a massage therapist! I’ve been putting it off but it’s time to get that done.

Give Myself Grace – I think at this time there’s a lot of pressure to be “productive” while we are at home. I don’t want to waste all my time watching Netflix, but I also don’t want to put too much pressure on myself to be productive during this time. It’s okay if your whole house isn’t sparkling clean, it’s okay if you haven’t been working out, or you’ve fallen behind on work.

Final Thoughts

I hope you are all hanging in there! Let me know how you are doing and what you are up to!
