My Favourite Personal Finance Books
Finance || Tags: Money ||I’ve been reading personal finance books for a few years. I definitely have my favorites! I love to read so adding in a few personal finance books in the mix is an awesome way to get inspired and get new ideas.
5) I Will Teach You To Be Rich – Ramit Sethi
I love getting emails from Ramit; they’re always interesting, so naturally I picked up his book. I really loved how it was broken down into steps, and geared towards young people. He really drove home the fact to me that if you have all your financial bases covered it’s okay to spend on some luxury things.
“Spend extravagantly on the things you love, and cut costs mercilessly on the things you don’t.” ― Ramit Sethi, I Will Teach You To Be Rich Click To Tweet
4) The Behavior Gap – Carl Richards
Carl wrote this book out of frustration of watching smart people do dumb things with money. I liked Carl’s “cocktail party” approach, with drawings. What I really took away from this book was that it is okay not to be perfect, and it’s okay not to know how much money you’ll need in retirement, but you still need to plan for it!
“One of those lessons is that you aren’t in charge of everything. Do what you can, and then relax.” ― Carl Richards, The Behavior Gap Click To Tweet3) The Wealthy Barber: The Common Sense Guide to Successful Financial Planning – David Chilton
I had been watching David on Dragon’s Den for a few years and loved his down to earth style. I really love how the book is broken down into lessons, and I felt like I was learning along with David and his friends from the Wealthy Barber! Lots of great info in here, I can’t wait to read The Wealthy Barber Returns.
“A dollar saved is two dollars earned.”― David Chilton, The Wealthy Barber:The Common Sense Guide to Successful Financial Planning Click To Tweet2) The Total Money Makeover – Dave Ramsey
The classic: Dave Ramsey has a no-nonsense way of giving you the steps to a debt free and finically free lifestyle. Tons of good information broken down into steps that are simple – but not necessarily easy. This book inspired me to finally get rid of my husband’s student loan debt!
“A budget is people telling their money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” ― Dave Ramsey, The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness Click To Tweet1) Wealthing Like Rabbits: An Original Introduction To Personal Finance – Robert R. Brown
I recently read this book and it’s become my favorite personal finance book ever! I love Robert’s way of explaining concepts with characters like Mario and Luigi. This book taught me lots while keeping me laughing, which is why it takes the top spot!
“If you earn enough Air Miles to visit Europe shopping at a liquor store, you’ve got bigger problems than your credit card debt to deal with.” ― Robert R. Brown, Wealthing Like Rabbits: An Original Introduction To Personal Finance Click To Tweet
