Hi! I’m Jenn!

I’m a millennial, writer, podcaster and Disney lover with a travel obsession! I have big dreams of traveling the world, but we had just one problem: debt.

I grew up in a family that traveled. We were lucky enough to take some family trips, and I have such fond memories of them! I knew I wanted to travel, but I also knew I wanted a financially stable life, so I got some student loans, went to college and settled into my job as a Massage Therapist. We got married and bought a house. I thought I was doing everything right…

Enter: Debt

But in 2017, when I started this blog, my husband and I had $26,556.64 in student loan debt, and then we had gotten a mortgage on top of it! Debt repayment was eating up our monthly income and getting in the way of our dreams to travel. That’s when I decided it was time for a change. I started “Will Save For Travel” to keep myself accountable and help others with personal finance!

I started reading books and blogs, making spreadsheets and budgeting. I found the Zero Based Budgeting method, which helped me manage our money in a way that made sense to me. We made a goal of being debt free by September 2019. 

Becoming Debt Free (The First Time)

In July 2019, we officially became debt-free after 21 months of hard work (2 months early!). It wasn’t easy, and I’m so thankful for those of you who have cheered us on along the way. We started planning more travel than ever, but then life threw us (and the whole world a curveball in 2020.

What’s Up Now

In 2021, we sold our first home and bought a fixer-upper, which definitely eats into the travel budget! Between 2021 and 2026, we paid off another $27,763.60 in debt (hello, buying a used car during the height of the pandemic and car shortages ?)

And now, as a millennial in her late 30s, I’m focused on retiring as soon as possible (freedom 50?!), and traveling as much as possible.

I’m here to show you that you can have your cake and eat it too; by paying off your debt and being financially free, you’ll have more money for the things you love!
