Good list! I also always download an app (like YAC! for example) to easily convert the foreign currency. I know I’m a bit lazy with arithmetics… But it’s also less confusing when you’re travelling to multiple countries 😉
great tip!! I’m lazy too which usually ends up to me spending more than I should haha!
I can totally relate to this tips, they are so great! I LOVE the last one, it is an adventure after all!
Thanks Krista!
Definitely agree with booking touristy tickets online ahead of time, it can save so much time and money 🙂 Great list!
Thanks! That is one we learned the hard way multiple times! Apparently I am a slower learner haha!!
Definitely agree with talking to locals. This is one of our favorite ways to learn about off the beaten path restaurants and hang outs!
Yes! Definitely great for finding things most tourists wouldn’t find!
Great list! I just started thinking to carry my travel notebook with me throughout the day, as opposed to just writing at night. I don’t know why it took me so long to think of that, but it’s great to jot down small things during the day isn’t it!
great idea! I don’t do this but luckily between my husband and I we usually remember. Although I have used the notes on my phone to write down restaurant names, etc!!
This is such a good checklist, especially for inexperienced travellers 🙂 I started a travel journal on my second ever trip abroad at age 7 and still do it every time I travel, love being able to go back and read about it, cause you’re right, one forgets the details! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I LOVE my travel journal! So special to me. Thanks for reading 🙂
I love this checklist. Even though I’ve travelled, I keep a checklist like this in my passport holder. 🙂
Good idea to keep it handy 🙂
Great list! I I think the only thing I don’t do is to keep a travel journal, but I write everything on my blog so I guess that’s the same thing 😉
haha yes that’s great too! It’s so much fun to read back about previous trips. It’s crazy how much you forget!
So, I’ve never purchased travel insurance before, even on extended trips. However, I’m constantly seeing that it’s one of the top recommendations for safe travels. In looking at pricing for a 6-week trip in Europe next summer I was quoted almost $600. Does this sound normal?? It seems pretty pricey to me and adds a lot of cost to the trip. Since I have nothing to compare it to, I have no idea if that sounds right or not. Thanks for all the tips!!
Hi Holly!
That does seem a little high to me. I am in Canada though! I always purchase through my travel agent and I get a cheaper rate because I’m under 30. My husband has to pay more because he’s over 30!
So usefuel dear! Thank you for all these tips. I’m leaving in a few days and I’ll for sure need this list.
Have a great trip Irene!
This is a truly awesome, detailed and exceptional list, Jenn! Thanks for sharing and enlightening!
Thanks for reading! Glad you found it useful
